Giorgio Chiellini believes Paulo Dybala can write an important page in Juve’s history, revealing La Joya had the opportunity to leave but wanted to stay with Juventus.

Dybala was linked with a move to Manchester United, Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain, but fought to remain with the Bianconeri.

“Paulo’s a very quiet person, a golden boy who has grown with us,” Chiellini told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Paulo’s someone who doesn’t talk much, but he shows it on the pitch – Last season was considered a bad one for him, but it depends on what’s required of him.

“If Dybala plays as a striker, he scores 20 goals, but if Dybala plays as a midfielder, he scores 5 goals and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“He makes the team play and is also important in many other ways. In my opinion, Paulo’s still growing. He’s an international player.

“He showed it on Tuesday: He wanted to stay here. He had the opportunity to leave, but he’s someone who wants to go up a level.

“He’s someone who’s worn our captain’s armband with honour because he deserved to.

“I wouldn’t be that surprised if Paulo did what Trezeguet, Camoranesi and Nedved did, which is writing an important page in Juventus’ history.”
