Giorgio Chiellini joked that the next Juventus coach will be Marcelo Lippi or Andrea Barzagli but offered thanks to Max Allegri.

The veteran defender spoke to Sky Sports at the “Insuperable” event and offered his thoughts on Allegri’s tenure at Juve,

“I’ll see him sometimes in Livorno or hear from him,” Chiellini told reporters.

“He knows how to defuse things, he’s given us so much and he’ll be remembered.

“We’re at an end of an era with him and we must thank him. After that, Juventus will go on as usual.

“He has some incredible qualities, he’s been a real positive and all of Juventus will miss him. Maybe he could come back in the future.

“I hope Andrea [Barzagli] stays on with the technical staff. He’s a special person, as well as an exceptional player.

“I’ll certainly miss him so much, I had the honour of spending eight fantastic years with him.

“He’s a person I can still learn so much from, let alone the young people who will come in.”

Chiellini then turned his attention to the Insuperable event.

“The champions are these guys. They give indescribable energy every time I see them. Only by seeing them do you understand, it fills your heart to be with them.

“It is nothing what we give them, it is an evening to help them. Whoever is lucky enough to be here tonight can understand.

“First title as a captain? Yes, a different emotion. I am pleased to share this with Andrea Barzagli, a quiet person who gave us so much. From the outside, we don’t appreciate how important he is in the locker room, laughing, joking, but working at the right time.”

Chiellini was asked who he thinks will take over as Juventus coach next season.

“I haven’t read anything, I don’t know anything. I enjoy time with my family, I train and I think about the commitments with the national team.

“We will continue to win, it is in the DNA of Juventus. It happened with Del Piero, Buffon and also other coaches.

“Marcello Lippi! The new coach will be Marcello Lippi …it will be him, it’s over (laughing).

“Sarri who? Did you say Sacchi?”
