Juventus were held to a disappointing draw with no fewer than three first team players picking up injuries along the way.
Juventus Player Ratings
Szczesny: An early mistake could easily have led to a Fiorentina goal, but he saw the half out with composure. Had some further shaky moments in the second but escaped with a clean sheet 5.5/10
Danilo: A muddling first 45′, good with his runs forward but no end product and a few scrapes at the back. Probably one of the better defensive players of the four, but it’s not saying much. 6.0/10
Leonardo Bonucci: Under pressure for spells as Fiorentina opened the half far better than Juventus. An interception and clearances here and there but nothing of note. 5.5/10
Matthijs De Ligt: A few nervy moments for the youngster which continued into the second half. Looks like he still needs time to adjust as there were a few occasions where his lapses could have cost us. 5.5/10
Alex Sandro: Probably the best of the back four throughout the game – industrious in his runs forward, reliable at the back. 6.5/10
Midfield
Sami Khedira: Offered precious little at any point in the opening period and next to nothing thereafter. Even conspired to miss one of Juve’s few chances. Poor. 4.5/10
Blaise Matuidi: A good run and cross aside, he was restricted to grunt work and little else and he never imposed himself on the match at all. Disappointing, yet again. 4.0/10
Miralem Pjanic: Tidy in the opening spell but injured shortly before the end of the first half. 5.0/10
Attack
Douglas Costa: Injured in the opening 15 and limped off with a reported muscular problem. N/A
Gonzalo Higuain: Utterly anonymous in the first 45 minutes and it’s hard to remember any telling contribution of his. 4.5/10
Cristiano Ronaldo: A few flicks and tricks aside, he offered little to begin with and drifted in and out of the game. 4.5/10
Substitutes
Federico Bernardeschi: Dire. Another who was anonymous for large spells, offering little in terms of attacking threat. 4.0/10
Rodrigo Bentancur : Hard to think of anything he did of note. 5.0/10
Juan Cuadrado: Like the others: one good moment aside, he did very little to help Juve win the game. 5.0/10
