Gleison Bremer has shed light on his transfer to Juventus and provided further details about his decision to join the club.

The Brazilian defender earned recognition as the best defender in Serie A during the 2021/2022 season while playing for Torino.

Juventus had been monitoring him but had a strong contingent of defenders in their squad, so they were willing to bide their time before signing the Brazilian.

However, just before the start of last season, Matthijs de Ligt expressed his desire to move to Bayern Munich, a transfer that eventually materialised.

In response, Juventus swiftly turned to Bremer as his replacement, even though he appeared close to a move to Inter Milan at the time.

Bremer has now revealed that he saw Juventus as the biggest club in the league and that he aspired to play at the World Cup. This ambition and recognition of Juventus’s status were key factors in his decision to join the club.

The defender said, as quoted by Calciomercato:

“When Juventus arrived I didn’t think twice. They are the biggest club in Italy and had recently won the championship nine times in a row. It was a golden opportunity. Furthermore, the call-ups for the 2022 World Cup was getting closer and closer and I needed to take a leap to be able to dream of being there too.”

Juve FC Says

Bremer could not have turned down an approach from us, considering how we have dominated Italian football recently.

However, we must start winning trophies again, or we will lose that appeal to future targets.
