Sevilla refuse to budge on Steven N’Zonzi so Juventus are seeking alternatives in the shape of Blaise Matuidi and Emre Can.
N’Zonzi remains the primary target, however Sevilla are intent on receiving the full €40m for the midfielder, leading the Bianconeri to look at alternatives for central midfield role.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the first name is Blaise Matuidi whose contract expires in 2018. Despite having previous bids for the Frenchan turned down, the report suggests PSG chairman Al-Khelaifi would not oppose his sale this time round. Despite not being a like-for-like fit, it’s suggested Matuidi could fill the role in the 4-2-3-1 formation that Allegri’s looks set to continue with.
A second name is Liverpool’s Emre Can, a player Fabio Paratici is reportedly very impressed by. The 23-year-old represents are a more interesting for Juve as he’s yet to sign a contract extension, and like Matuidi, his existing deal with the Red’s ends in 2018.
Prefer Can then personally.
Younger, decent experience, some national side recognition, and has gone about his game in a focused manner in the PL. More of a risk, but higher potential, given his age.
Indeed!
Doubt we’re getting either, I’d take matuidi but for a small fee as his contract is up soon and he’s up there in age. Liverpool is rebuilding so i doubt they sell one of their best prospects, he wouldn’t come cheap either, probably not under 40 million in this market. Personally I don’t think we need either, the question we must ask ourselves is if either of these players elevates us to the next level or fill the holes exposed by real in the second half of the final. At this point I do like costa as he is an upgrade on cuadrado but is can or matuidi an upgrade over anyone in the starting lineup? I personally don’t think so, not anytime soon.
