Juventus are carefully monitoring a number of defensive options for next summer but top among their priorities is Ajax centre-back Matthjis de Ligt.

The Bianconeri invested heavily this summer with a significant investment in bringing back Leonardo Bonucci to partner Giorgio Chiellini, the duo being considered the starting defensive pair.

Despite having reinforcements in the shape of Medhi Benatia, Daniele Rugani and Andrea Barzagli, Juve are looking to sign new defenders in the future and work has already begun on identifying new targets.

According to Corriere Torino, Juventus could look to sign two or three central defenders with a number of profiles being followed.

Scouting work has already begun on Nikola Milenkovic (Fiorentina), Leonardo Balerdi (Boca Juniors) and Jean-Clair Todibo (Toulouse)  while it’s reported that Juve are ready to start  negotiations with Sampdoria for Joachim Andersen.

It’s suggested that Inter have already moved for the Dane who has just renewed his deal with Sampdoria and is valued at over €30m, while Juventus are trying with an offer starting at €25m with the option of leaving him on loan.

Contacts with Mino Raiola for Matthjis de Ligt are increasingly continuous, just 19 years and valued at over  €50m; Ajax are unprepared to offer any discount on the Dutch centre-back who visited the Juventus facilities in May.

He remains Juve’s he number one goal, the obstacle to overcome being the increasingly high transfer fee; But Juventus are following and the interest is very serious.
