Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Juventus are negotiations are underway for Emre Can, although there’s no agreement yet, while Jurgen Klopp suggest the midfielder will run down his contract with Liverpool.
The German international is wanted by the Bianconeri as well as Manchester City and Bayern Munich, but Juve may have an edge on the competition following discussions last year.
“Emre Can’s contract is expiring in June 2018,” MArotta told RMC Sport.
“It’s been assumed that a club like ours have their eyes and attention on him. We’ve opened talks with his camp, but it doesn’t mean that it’s done.
“It won’t be easy because Liverpool will try to renew his contract, without forgetting the alternative possibility that other clubs will try to sign him.
“We’ll make every possible effort to bring him in.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp seems resigned to losing his player for free in the summer, believing the player will run down his contract in Merseyside without agreeing a new deal
He’ll stay beyond the winter,” Klopp told DAZN.
“Emre is still a young lad but he has developed into a great player and is very important for us.
“Sometimes a player just wants to sit out his contract. That’s not cool for the club, but there are moments in which you have to accept it.
“And as long as the player behaves like Emre does, then I have absolutely nothing to complain about. He gives everything he has and identifies with the club.”
