Alvaro Morata has revealed that leaving Real Madrid was his choice, due to his limited chances at the club.

Speaking ahead of Juve’s Champions League first-leg match against Bayern, the striker revealed what convinced him to join Juve as well as the upcoming game against the German champions.

“I don’t know why my performances have been good against German teams,” Morata told Bild.

“It’ll be tough against Bayern, but it’ll be difficult for the German team in the first leg because they’ll find an inferno at our stadium.

“We’ve only conceded one goal in the last nine games at Juventus Stadium. We’ll play our game, we’ll run and play with high intensity.

“We’ll help each other and we’ll be careful not to make mistakes because Guardiola’s side would exploit them straight away.

“ Lewandowski is the best striker in Europe for me, to see him play is a joy to behold.

“In Madrid I didn’t have a clear head, there was no chance of finding space. I had a lot of offers, but Juventus came to my house and convinced me with a good offer.

“As for the future, two months ago I signed a new five-year contract with Juventus, a one-year extension to the last one.

“I feel great satisfaction and I’m motivated to do well in future. Leaving Real was my choice, because I was never given a chance.

“The best League? In Italy you play tactically a lot, all the teams are very well organised. In Spain the football is faster.

“In the Bundesliga and the Premier League it’s less tactical but the football is good, I like all those Leagues.

“Buffon? It’s an honour to play with him,” Morata explained.

“He’s a great, intelligent person. A legend. Gigi will fire you up, he’s personable and he always makes himself available to help the young guys.

“Pogba? I know he has offers, he’s a friend, an improving player and a great talent. Juve need him.

“I can only say positive things about Arturo Vidal. We often sat together on the bus. I respect his choice to go to Bayern but I don’t know the reasons.

“Coman? He’s one of the most promising young players I’ve ever seen, in the Bundesliga he gets more space, he can use his speed and technique against his opponent.
