Juventus have announced the contract renewals of midfielder Cluadio Marchisio and Coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Bianconeri President Andrea Agnelli held a press conference earlier today alongside director Beppe Marotta and Claudio Marchisio where he confirmed the news.
“Allegri has renewed for one more year,” the patron told the assembled media.
“This makes us happy and proud. He had a remarkable first season, we’ve already spoken, and he’s determined to do just as well in his next two years with us.”
Agnelli also announced Marchisio’s contract renewal until 2020 which will take him up to the age of 34.
“Claudio is living every child’s dream,” Agnelli said at the Press conference.
“To come to Juventus at seven years old, and move up every level of the youth set-up, before reaching the first team and also wearing the captain’s armband.
“I think if a kid were to imagine the ideal path in a club like Juventus, it would be difficult to do better than that, I think it’s something quite unique in a place like this.
“Claudio is already a legend, he’s already part of the museum, and though he’s not yet 30, he’s made over 300 appearances for Juventus, so he’s already among our greats.
“Claudio is the point of contact between the Juventus of yesterday and the Juventus of tomorrow.
“Even before today he could be considered a senator, but now, with a renewal for the next five years, which means he could end his career at Juventus, he is, in effect, a senator.
“This is a great honour, but it also means big responsibilities for Claudio.”
Marchisio deserves it. I like the line where Agnelli says that he is a link from the juve of yesterday to the juve of tomorrow. Really spot on
Marchisio is Juve for my generation, much like Ale was Juve for the last generation. Getting to watch him grow into the player he has become, while being at Juve the entire time, is definitely something I will always remember. Ups and downs, the kid turned into a wonderful player. I wonder who will step up for this next generation of Juve?
So many options, but I’m hoping it can be Rugani, Sturaro, and Morata. All three are very promising and with the right attitude they can really do something great
Sturaro. I think he will be the new Vidal.
A player like Marchisio is a rarity and he truly is a real gem of Italian football. He’s not only a youth product who made it but he’s a local lad from around the corner who used to sit in the stands and watch and cheer for Del Piero and co. We’ve had a merry-go-round of coaches and players since calciopoli and not one of them had a bad thing to say about the guy whether on or off the field. As a life-long Juve fan I feel privileged that we have him wearing the jersey and it was an honor to watch that scrawny kid from the Serie B days grow into such a wonderful player.
