Moroccan defender Medhi Benatia is set to complete his Juventus medical tomorrow.
The Bianconeri have reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern Munich which will see the centre-back join Juve on loan with a fixed option to buy set at €20m. A fixed option to buy will come into effect, provided Benatia makes a certain amount of appearances.
Corriere dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia and a number of other Italian news outlets report that the defender will arrive in Turin tomorrow morning to complete his medical.
Benatia will fill the place of Martin Caceres who left the club as a free agent earlier in the month, however his arrival is not expected to have any influence in the future of Leonardo Bonucci who is likely to renew his existing Juve contract.
Great signing!!!
Enh..So So signing really nothing more than a back up in case someone gets injured.
Good thing that it isnt mandatory to buy him. Still not sure this is the guy we need to go for. Injury prone and nearing his thirties, 20mill for a CB seems much.
However if he can stay fit he could be really valuable. Still riding the faith I have in Marotta and co, so I feel confident this will work out fine.
Also excited about this Gabigol, I am getting far ahead of myself with this, but I already dream of a new Brazilian Ronaldo, this time in Bianconeri colours
I wouldn’t place too much excitement on the appearance of Rogerio along with Benatia today. The youngster will train with the first team squad and make his move to Juve more ‘official’ than it was when Sassuolo bought him with our money and offered him a legitimate club to train with until we could register him with our colours. Perhaps I will see him in Melbourne, as he will stay with the first team until a loan club can be found…
As for Benatia…he replaces Caceres and is potentially a major upgrade. He knows the league and was probably one of the finest defenders in Italy before he moved to the Germans. The move very much suggests we will stick with a back three and five is the right number. A shrewd move from Beppe and Fabio. We have strengthened the defence, the midfield and perhaps also the attack (Pjaca). More to come given Zaza’s possible departure…
What Algerian?
ryad mahrez lol?
he wouldent be bad…if we cant get Depay i rather him, and then cuadrado
Depay… no please. He sucked at Man U this season. He’s a show off around town with his flash cars like Ballotelli was, but without the talent.
Not sure on Depay…he was explosive at PSV. I cannot believe he has simply become a bad player, although his form in the premier league was poor. Adjustment to a new culture? Change in football? The position in which he was deployed and directed? He was superb in the netherlands, yet I have come to conclude their league has weakened horribly over the last decade or so. Gone are the times when Ajax were producing mega talents to export globally as well as competing at the top level in Europe…Success in the Eredivisie is less of an accurate barometer for success elsewhere. Even the national side has fallen into the mire. How has this happened? I hope it is merely cyclical.
May be right there sir. But not sure why change should have thrown him, as most going from Dutch league to EPL adapt easily enough. More kinship between those two leagues than Serie A surely? If he can’t adapt to EPL isn’t he going to struggle more in Italy. Not sure how many Dutch players ply their trade in Italian leagues these days, but seems a lot less than in years gone by?
I can’t bring myself to blame Van Gaal for Depay’s dismal showing last season, as being a fellow Dutchman he should have had an easier time adapting with him than many others did who were not Dutch. Other newcomers fitted in ok. Perhaps If he had spent less time posing around Manchester in his blacked out Merc and going shopping, and more time training then he may have done better….
Reasons for Depay as oppose to Cuadrado
#1 Depay is a lot, but a lot younger
#2 Depay is an overall more technical player
#3 Depay is good in free kicks and shots from distance
#4
Depay has plenty of room to grow and develop into something great with
the proper guidance (which i believe Juventus can deliver) ..Cuadrado
at best will return to former glory and even that isnt overtly impressive.
#5 Depay is just as fast, if not faster than Cuadrado, and if he isnt now, then he sure as hell will be, because of age.
Depay showed great potential in the Netherlands..So he had a bad year at Man U ..So what? he has plenty of time to properly develop, not to mention other mental factors that go into ones form other than just adapting to a new country ..also keep in mind Shwansteigers form ..he is dreadfull at Man U and was nothing compared to his former self in the Euro’s …I dont think you or anyone else doubts Schwansteigers ability on the ball.
If man U will not be patient with Depay and we can swap him for cheap…then by all means, its a steal!!!
**This all relates to last week where i read that mourinho didnt want depay and Juve where interested and where looking at making a bid…but i havent heard much else this week, so i dont know what happened***
Regardless Juve needs an insanley fast player weather it be Depay, Mahrez or the return of Cuadrado ..i dont mind. But with the departure of Coman-Peryra-Cuadrado- Morata are fastest players up top are now Pogba and Asamoha i think and that wont do for CL
.
Seriously chap, no. He did not have a bad year, he had a shocker – and all of his own making. LVG gave him chances, he could not be bothered to take them due to his attitude problem.

Why on earth do you think he would be any different at Juve? Where is the evidence he would be a changed man in Turin? He is Balotelli part 2…. We don’t need this rubbish.
he would be fantastic
The wild rumours of a 75mill offer for Higuain, including Pereyra going the opposite way are really making one dream..
I doubt the likeliness of the move and especially whether Juve can and would offer such a sum. But adding Higuain? That makes us just as much a favourite for the CL as Barca and Bayern..
…. so I’ve been kinda quiet ’cause I’m still low-key mourning Italy’s Euro loss but I just had to come and say that I will be SO pissed off if Higuaín comes, honestly… I AM NOT READY. Such a great mercato… to ruin it with that smug cry-baby? NO.
I DO NOT LIKE HIGUAÍN. Can’t stand him. I even hate how he sweats around his face. UGHHHH, JUVE, DON’T.
Same here Elisa, I have been throwing myself all out on my business and only reading news instead of posting for a while.
Well, I have no particular love or hate for Pipita. I only see a great striker. Who would add what our attack still misses, a proven goalgetter.
I doubt it will happen anyway. Napoli wont let him go easily. Especially not to us.
I do want to ask what makes you dislike him so much? Out of curiosity mainly, I havent really seen any bad boy behaviour or anything from Higuain, as far as I remember.
What makes me dislike him so much?
HIS FACE.
… no, seriously, I have no idea why I just don’t like him. It’s irrational. Same with Zidane… John Stockton…. Kobe… I don’t know why I can’t stand them, I just can’t. Like, I don’t have a problem with Zlatan’s smugness, for some reason I find his whole persona just really funny.. and CR7 gets more of a “meh, whatever” type of reaction from me….. I usually don’t give a hoot about these things but… ugh. I can’t explain it. I don’t know. He’s a great striker but I DON’T WANT HIM ON MY TEAM.
… specially now that I hear that Sturaro and Rugani are thrown in the mix! NOOO. I don’t want to let Rugani go, and I still believe in Sturaro (I think he’d be a smarter Gattuso, kinda)… I have love for Pereyra but I feel like he’s a bit like Giovinco, the eternal “promise”.
I am freaking out over this Higuaín news… XD
Haha, fair enough! Are Sturaro and Rugani mentioned? I would also rather keep them both, but especially Rugani. Sounds like bullshit to send him away.
Rather Rugani than Higuain. No matter what
That’s what I’ve read on Twitter… they could be included as bargaining chips. I hope it’s all a lie, though.. I hope they’re all trolling us. I hope hope hope so!
It doesnt make sense to send them away for Higuain, thats throwing away the long term investments plus cash for the short term.. It doesnt add up and I would discard it as such.
Sturaro, possibly. Rugani however, at best on loan
Now that the initial wave of news -both from mercato journalists and other Juventini- has died down, I’m starting to think it wasn’t true……?
Sturaro, I’d loan…. I’d only let him go for a big player, just not Higuaín. Rugani I want with us. We need young italian defenders!!
“What makes me dislike him so much?
HIS FACE.”
That’s a really random reason to dislike a footballer!
Isn’t it?!?! I’m so conflicted. It was also not meant to be taken literally, though.
He won’t be coming. Don’t worry.
In you I trust, Dybi!!
Agree 100% and also I don’t want him to do to Dybala what he did to Messi.
He does choke with Argentina, doesn’t he? Yet, with Napoli, it seems like he netted every goal. I don’t know, I don’t even think he’s a bad player, I’ve already explained that my dislike towards him is irrational.. but he’s a smug cry-baby and I don’t want him at Juve…. meh.
Yep his smug cry-baby attitude would be better suited for Roma or Inter.
It’ll never happen. There’s no way that Juve ever pays that much for one player. And if they did, it wouldn’t be for someone his age.
Same idea here mate, but just imagine such a striker in our ranks again! Major upgrade for the team
I really hope this Higuain bullshit isn’t true. We already have 2 Argentines , three would be too much like Inter. And it would be pretty stupid for Beppe and Paratici to handle finances so well all these years and then blow it on fucking Higuain… please keep that guy as far away as possible.
(Do people accidentally fall down volcanoes?)
Pererya is on his way out…yet I wouldn’t worry the slightest on such tripe. De Laurentis would rather cut his own heart out and watch it bleed as he leaves this real than to offer the jewel of his crown to his despised enemies.
Re Conte, agreed. It’s a shame he is at Chelsea as we all know the pressure on him will start to build within weeks of a bad result or two. He will do well to last half way through his contract.
But he will brighten up MOTD on Saturday nights that’s for sure.
I am pretty sure that can be arranged if you know the right people lol, we are talking about Naples after all.
Besides that yeah, it does sound strange. I was talking more about the quality of such a move than the player himself though. Would be the cherry on the cake to add such a striker
I hope it isnt true because of how expensive he is , ontop of Rugani being one of the swap players…for that money we should get Aubameyang or Muller
If you can spend that amount of money on Higuain.
Why don’t we make a real attempt to go after alexis Sanchez?
If it is this big of a cash splash and he is showing willingness, than I don’t see how Wenger wouldn’t reconsider.
No manager/coach wants a unsettled/unhappy player in their squad.
Its most likely just me, but I really dont get excited about Sanchez. He has chosen first Barca and then Arsenal over us, my interest in him is at a historical low.
If we are throwing such money, I would prefer Benzema perhaps but most of all Lewandowski. Pretty sure you can get either one for the mentioned prices
I feel you and the whole, he let us down for other clubs twice. But in the end it’s all business. As much as us romantics would like to think otherwise.
He wants money,he wants to play for a major club and win. All that he can get at Juventus. Well maybe not the PL salary but we all have to make sacrifices.
I think that partnering him up with Dybala would be major.
Zaza has been good when given the chance. Would like the see how many goals he can score given more playing time. But can we afford to wait for someone like Matri,Giovinco,Iaquinta,Vucinic etc to maybe/potentially reach world class status?
If your answer is yes, then give the lad a real chance this season,if your answer is no,then cut him loose and let him try out his wings elsewhere. Because it would break my heart to see him warm the bench yet another season.
As for Mandzukic. I was not excited when he signed for us. I was very skeptical. I am not a big fan of the whole very tall and big striker standing neck to neck with the opposing defence just to act like a target player, and occasionally netting some balls. That is not what we need. That is not enough quality in a striker and not that big of an upgrade on Llorente if you ask me.
A guy like Morata could do that and much much more. If you have any doubts on that just look at his game against Bayern in the second meeting.
For me Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Zlatan and Benzema are big players and great strikers (not really fair to put Ronaldo in the same sentence as the other three). But the thing they keep on repeating is inconsistency in the big, deciding and crucial games. Late stages in major tournaments. They hardly ever shine our make an impact in those games. Which Morata always did. He got excited coming a big game and he was many times the one that stod tall. That is the kind of guy we should line up next to Dybala. If it is Zaza,Berrardi or someone else, I don’t know. But I have faith in Marotta & co. They have done an excellent job so far.
You are right, but its how I think about Sánchez. Why did he bother joining Arsenal if he wants trophies? He could have joined Vidal here and win trophies, albeit for less money. No, I am not waiting for Alexis anymore.
I dont want to sell Zaza, but as you say, it is no use keeping him on the bench either. Its a thin line to balance on!
I think people sometimes expect too much from superstars like the ones you mentioned. they are sometimes called big game flops, yet any fan would kill to have them in their team.
i wouldn’t like Benzema (like Ribery he is nearing the end of his time and has no where else to go but down hill); however i would be enthralled with either Aubumeyang /Muller or Lewandowski, along with Sanches …i mean 4 players (1 nobody – Staruro)(1 ok player – Pereyra) (2 promising future talents like Zaza and Rugani) + 75 M ….for little old Higuain??? …Jesus Christ that buy would be retarded!! Higuain is good, but not 95M good, I would pay no more than 50M. Aubumeyang- Muller or lewandowski are all 95M Good, But i think Muller aligns BEST! with our style of play, as he is excellent at holding the ball. shooting from distance and headers not to mention clinical finishing.
https://youtu.be/wVm9yXTx7FI
he is beast, but 94m is too much for him, i would include zaza and asamoah into the deal and 50m cash
Pereyra is probably going to Napoli regardless of what happens with Higuain, so if there actually is a deal, Pereyra is automatically going to be involved in it. But Zaza and/or Asamoah would be possible too indeed. But Rugani should not be involved in a deal, something I assume wont happen anyway.
yes, thats the guy i forgot belg, pereyra, 15-18m discount boy, no way can we give them rugani.
94M or Staruro+Pereyra+Rugani+Zaza+75M is Fucking Stupid!!! especially for little ol’ Higuain! If the Striker was Aubumeyang or Muller or Lewandowski i’d be all for it….But Higuain? Dont get me wrong Higuain is a great Player and had an awesome Copa America…But 95M? God No!! That is Insanely overpriced! I much Rather Alexis Sanches for 40-60Mill or like i said Bumeyang/Muller/Dowski would be fine, but not Higuain, not for that money. If it was 50Mill + 1 player that would be fine, but not 95M or 4 players+75M
