Juventus are through to the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League where Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid await.
The Bianconeri needed a point from their final group game against Sevilla to guarantee top spot but a disappointing performance was capped off by 1-0 loss, including a goal from ex-Juve forward Fernando Llorente.
With Juventus qualifying in second place, they could face any one of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg, Zenit or Chelsea/Porto/Dinamo Kiev.

If you want to be strong and prove yourself stop shitting around. Lets face the best at the beginning to see who we really are.
So lets take a revenge for the day in june.
Bayern. Bayern. Bayern.
Couldn’t agree more, mate. A true champion always yearns, aches to test itself against the very best competition available, not to hope to progress by facing the weakest teams possible whilst craving our major rivals slipping up in other ties against lesser opposition. Admittedly we are a work in progress, and missing many players who would be involved were they available, yet we have the best part of 2 months to remedy those mitigating factors. By which time, we will be as ready as we can be, to face any opponent. Whether that be Zenith or Barca.
Also worth adding…the teams which expect to find themselves anywhere near the final stages of domestic and european competition, structure their season upon that expectation, fitness wise and selection wise. Whilst fatigue comes into play, so does momentum, which negates the advantage of facing a team later on rather than sooner in the tournament.
From a personal perspective, I would like to see us beat Real as I despise Benitez. Also Bayern would be fun, to face off against the ‘new’ Coman and traitor Vidal. Other than which, I suppose Wolfsburg, to crunch most horribly Draxler, after flirting with us for so many days during the transfer saga.
YES! You damn right.
I really hope for a big fish.
Cant wait till Monday…………….
ditto on Real – Can’t stand that pretend manager and that club in general and their entire ethos and approach to football.
The other part of me wants Bayern for very specific reasons….
agree with you on bayern certainly, i’d also love another crack at chelsea to hopefully knock them down. not the easiest draw, not the hardest, great press from beating them as well, good overall place to start imo
I disagree that we should want a strong opponent now. Why would you want Bayern or Barca now? They will come anyway. Better to get a weaker team now and progress to get the exposure, money and confidence in the squad.
Or do you really need to see Bayern or barca batter us to pieces to know they are stronger than us? They are a class above us and there is no shame in that.
Not like their fans are like “wow we need to draw Juve so we get the toughest opponent possible right from the start ” either
I’m with you on this. We can’t even be sure that we’d beat Frosinone right now, we stand no chance at all against Bayern, Barca or Real. We are building from our disaster start and we’ll get there but it needs time.
Yes we are a rollercoaster right now, even if the trend is going upwards for us. But even despite that, Bayern and Barca are just better than Juve.
Ofc we can beat them theoretically, but the odds at that are highly against us. I dont want to see juve demolished 4-0 again
Points taken and agreed with, comrade B…yet I will stick with my war-cry. Barca and Bayern are both superior to not just ourselves, but all other clubs on the continent I assume. Remember though, that we are talking of mid February, not now. By which time we will have recovered key players and hopefully found form and momentum. Let us dream of our team by this juncture showing signs of Champions Elect, at least on the domestic front…
Sometimes games against the very best are the making of a team. Players find reserves and spirit, plumb their own and the collective depths, dig deep and unearth new planes of performance and belief. Just imagine what a victory over Bayern could do for the youngsters in our side…Could be the springboard towards Greatness!….yes! yes! we could well be crunched horribly or fight hard and respectfully and lose with valour and pride.
I agree of course that a solid run is wonderful for our finances and exposure and prestige, so let us wait and see what Lady Luck has in store…Begrudgingly pleased Roma went through, although they are prone to…the odd total capitulation (which could be far worse for our UEFA co-efficient than had they dropped to the Europa) and now share our market pool dividends deeper into the tournament.
I think barca and Bayern are the best there is right now, i dont expect anyone beating them right now. Ofc you have a good point that these games are only played in February, by which time anything can happen.
If it has to be a big team, I hope it will be PSG or Chelsea. That would be An interesting duel to watch and realistic to win. Bayern and barca are just too strong.
All in all i rather have Wolfsburg or Zenit now and the big guns later. I hope the same for Roma, but just for the sake of the league
I rather have one of the weaker teams as well. Progressing at all no matter who it’s against will give the team confidence. Though I don’t think we would get battered if we drew any of the top teams
Maybe not battered, but losing is most likely, last time we faced Bayern in 2 legs we lost both games 2-0 and barca, we know what happened there, even despite giving them a good fight we went down 3-1
yeah in no way would we be favored but I’d like to think we have a shot. Maybe just too optimistic!
Off topic but if anyone has any questions for a QUALITY fiorentina
blogger, please post them here – Anything at all you want to know about
Juve v Fiorentina
Since Fiorentina are competing for the top spots at the moment, even for first place, how do you think this team would perform in the CL?
And maybe to stay at their good performance so far this season, ”do you think Fiorentina can keep this up for the rest of the season and become Serie A champions?”
I kinda would like to know why they have this intense hate against Juve. Like seriously, is this still about that Baggio transfer 200 years ago?
That makes no sense so I would like to hear a reasonable Violafan tell me about it.
What causes them to bring Heizel-banners to our games?
Long question 😛
We also ”stole” a title from them winning a match on the last day by being favored by the ref or something. That too was 200 years ago but it’s a reason for them to hate us. It might also have to do with us having most titles in Italy. Ajax is hated in Holland too for that reason. But yes i’m curious to hear the answer from a Fiorentina fan too.
Wolfsburg and chelsea are the best options. Infact considering distance and relative difficulty Wolfsburg is better of the two. Considering how we struggle against relatively weaker teams i prefer relatively strong ones and not too strong at the same time.
