Daniele Rugani could be on the verge of completing a move to London with Chelsea reportedly prepared to pay €50m to sign him.

There’s been mounting speculation over the future of the young centre-back with a suggestion in some parts of the Italian press that Maurrizio Sarri is keen to reunite with the player he coached at Empoli.

Speaking to Radio CRC, agent Davide Torchia was quick to deny any such move would take place this summer:

“Rugani to Chelsea? I’m happy for Sarri because no-one thought he could get there and now here he is coaching Chelsea.

“It’s a great victory for everyone, even for Napoli it was crucial. Then, given how highly he rates Rugani, everyone thinks [Rugani] could follow him to Chelsea.

“However, it must be remembered that Juventus didn’t accept any negotiations in the past, neither with Napoli nor with any other team, and they’ve always shown willingness to keep the player. That will hasn’t changed.

“Rugani himself hasn’t expressed willingness to go elsewhere, but it must also be said that if there’s an offer, it’ll be listened to because there’s respect in football.

Despite his agents words, SportItalia insist that a deal is on the table and a meeting is planned in Milan for Tuesday or Wednesday of this week as Sarri wants Rugani at Chelsea by the weekend so he can start pre-season preparations.

Juventus will reportedly accept a €50m for Rugani who will earn €5m per season in London.
