Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti sustained a thigh injury during Wednesday’s friendly contest against Juventus Next Gen.
Igor Tudor gave the opportunity for some of the substitutes to start against the club’s B-team in the traditional ‘family friendly’ held at the Allianz Stadium, even Dusan Vlahovic and Douglas Luiz who are famously on the transfer list.
The two surplus-to-requirements stars were both on the scoresheet in the 2-0 win, while Miretti played an influential role in both goals.
Fabio Miretti picked up muscle injury
Sadly for the youngster, his outing ended prematurely after suffering a knock late in the first half, as he had to be replaced by fellow Juventus youth product Jonas Rouhi.
Therefore, Miretti had to undergo clinical tests at the J|Medical Centre at Continassa, and the results confirmed a muscle injury, albeit a slight one.
“Fabio Miretti, who suffered a muscle problem during the Juventus vs Next Gen friendly match, underwent an X-ray at J|Medical on Thursday, 14 August,” read the note posted on the official Juventus website.
“The examination showed a low-grade muscle injury to the semitendinosus muscle in the right thigh. Further examinations will be carried out in 10-15 days’ time in order to precisely define how long Miretti will be out for.”
Miretti to miss first two Juventus fixtures of the new season
Therefore, the young midfielder is expected to miss the first two Serie A fixtures of the season against Genoa (August 24) and Parma (August 31).
Moreover, it remains to be seen if this injury could serve as the final blow to his transfer to Napoli.
The two clubs have been negotiating for weeks, but they haven’t been able to bridge the gap between Juve’s asking price (circa €20 million) and Napoli’s offer (€14 million).
Miretti first joined the Juventus senior squad in March 2022 when he earned a promotion from the Next Gen. However, he spent the previous campaign on loan at Genoa.
