Juventus are aiming to keep Alex Sandro at the club by offering the Brazilian a pay increase and extending his contract until 2022 in an effort to ward off Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Another summer, another saga, and not a word has been said by the player, his representative or the club, with the exception of Beppe Marotta confirming that Juve had turned down a large offer for the full-back.

It’s important to note that while newspapers, TV channels, websites, and of course, social media, have been in a frenzy about a possible transfer, very little is actually known.

With that aside, the Corriere dello Sport newspaper report that the Bianconeri aren’t prepared to sell the Brazilian at any cost, let alone the €70m figure thats being touted.

The plan is to renew Sandro’s deal (something that should have been doe mi-season in my humble estimation) in an effort to tie him to the club in the long term by offering a salary of €5m per year until 2022.

More speculation suggests that Danilo will join the club very soon and the close friendship between the two will be enough to convince him to stay, given that they were teammates at Porto.

I’m not entirely sure that the arrival of a friend would be enough to convince Sandro to lay down roots in Turin, nor am i convinced of the speculation around him not being part of the team. It seems all too convenient that such stories are suddenly being printed now.

Will he stay? If he’s convinced of the project, he will remain at Juve. By improving the Brazilian’s salary and offering him some guarantees about the future, perhaps the management will have enough to keep him at the club for now.

The temptation to move to the Premier League isn’t solely based around money – its the chance to try a new experience and play for the current league champions, along with Andonio Gonde, who is always an attraction in himself.

It’s important to reiterate, at this stage, the player’s last comments (2 months ago) were that he was very happy in Turin and had no intention of going elsewhere….but we’ve heard that before. Players say what they want fans to hear, so it’s difficult to put any stock in anything he says.

For now, it’s all up in the air, but this can only be a win-win for Juve: If he remains, we retain his services for the nea future. If he goes, we earn a small fortune and we can look to the market to replace him while possibly bringing in young Spinazzola as an understudy.

Exciting times ahead. Don’t you just love this time of season? Personally, I’d sooner be put in cryo-sleep and emerge at the end of August, frosty and ready for the season ahead, where the REAL football takes place.
